3 Tips To Cut Back On Alcohol This Summer
Summer is often a time when people tend to drink more. While many people feel they can drink alcohol with minimal negative impacts, others find that the negative parts about drinking are starting to outweigh the positive.
If you are tired of hangovers or the embarrassment that can come from getting a little too drunk at Aunt Susan's BBQ, it might be worth exploring your relationship with alcohol. What might it be like to try and cut back? Treat it like an experiment and see how it feels.
Coffee with a Counselor
Looking for a therapist in Durango?
Getting started with therapy can be confusing and intimidating. Many people don’t know where to start. That’s why I wanted to create a welcoming, casual, and fun event to make the process of finding a therapist feel more approachable.
Last month, I partnered with the Wellness Social Club to put on “Coffee with a Counselor.” We had a casual and fun day chatting about different types of therapy and how to find a therapist who is a good fit. I taught a variety of skills such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), butterfly tapping (from EMDR), positive affirmations, progressive muscle relaxation (somatic therapy), and a releasing activity (similar to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or ACT). That way guests can sample different therapeutic styles and see which ones might interested them the most!
Addiction is giving up everything for one thing…
Addiction is giving up everything for one thing. Recovery is giving up one thing for everything…
Sounds simple when you put it like that, but it’s not always as obvious for those living with a Substance Use Disorder. When people are in active addiction, it can be so hard to see a way out. Recovery is very challenging, but you will likely create a better life you never thought was possible without the weight of addiction pulling you down. If you or a loved one is struggling with drug of alcohol abuse, reach out for help today.
